3 killed in ‘gunfights’ in 3 dists
Two alleged drug traders and a suspected robber were killed in separate gunfights in Natore, Gazipur and Barguna districts.
The gunfights reportedly took place in separate times from Monday (August 27) night to early hours of Tuesday (August 28).
In Natore, suspected drug traders Meher Ali, 35, an accused in 14 cases over murder, robbery and drug dealing, was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Chamtia area of Lalpur upazila around 2:30am.
Two RAB members sustained injuries in the shootout.
Some arms including Phensedyl, Tk 462 cash money, a mobile phone and a SIM card were recovered from the spot.
Natore RAB-5 Camp Company Commander Shibli Mostofa confirmed the matter.
In Gazipur, an unidentified drug traders was killed in a reported shootout with RAB-1 in Tongi township area, around 3am.
A foreign arm, ammos and huge drugs were recovered seized from the spot.
Efforts are on to reveal the deceased’s identity, said RAB.
In Barguna, suspected robber Md Rafiqul, 40, was killed in a shootout with RAB, reportedly taken place at a charland in Baleshwar river close to Patharghata upazila, at early hours of Tuesday.
Some arms were recovered from the spot.
Quoting RAB, Patharghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Molla Mohamamd Khabir Ahmed confirmed the matter.
